Christain Counseling
Restorative Counseling Center offers counseling from a Christian worldview. That being said, we will never force our views on clients. When a client desires it, we can aid in their healing process by tapping into their spirituality.
What is Christian Counseling?
Christian Counseling can mean very different things to different people. At Restorative Counseling Center, we hold Master’s Degrees, are clinically trained in counseling, and licensed by the state in our profession. In addition, we bring a Christian worldview that allows us to incorporate spirituality when it’s appropriate and welcomed by the client. Here at RCC, Christian counseling brings together psychology, evidence-based practices, scripture and the power of the Holy Spirit to offer deeper healing for common struggles like anxiety, depression and relationship issues. Because we are licensed professionals of the state of Michigan, we cannot, and do not expect our clients to believe what we believe. Even if we do not believe the same things, this does not negatively impact counseling results. What does Christian Counseling look like at RCC?
Our director, Nicole Fryling, MA, LLPC brings her life-long Christian walk, seminary education and clinical counseling training as the foundation for her counseling approach. She also believes that everyone is made in the image of Christ and this lays the foundation for her welcoming, non-judgmental atmosphere. She recognizes that we are all broken and in need of God’s amazing grace. Nicole has a passion for weaving scripture and spiritual disciplines into the counseling process based on the needs of her client. Every client is different, we meet them where they are on their journey, and incorporate at the level at which they are comfortable. Nicole also has additional training including certification in Formational Prayer from Healing Care Ministries which equips her to address emotional wounding, false beliefs, and invite God into the therapeutic process. How does incorporating spirituality help in my healing?
At Restorative Counseling Center, we believe in taking a holistic approach to healing by evaluating one’s emotional, mental, physical and spiritual health. When all parts are addressed, we see deeper, longer-lasting change and healing. Many parts of psychology (specifically cognitive-behavioral theory and neuroscience) align with biblical teaching. If someone is a Christian, and desires for this to be a part of their counseling journey, offering spiritual support can make a big impact on their mental and emotional progress. For many Christians, their faith offers them hope, peace and purpose. We also recognize that many have been hurt by the church, or by someone in the church. This is also something we can address in therapy. Having a trusted, safe Christian counselor to journey through these hurts with can begin to heal some of these wounds.
